Open Data, Social Networks At 'Building Perfect Council Websites 2010'
Events news published: Friday 23rd April 2010
Opening up council data online and the rise of social networking as a means of service delivery are among issues to be covered at this year's 'Building Perfect Council Websites 2010' conference.
Other subjects to be covered include how council websites can offer local health information to their residents, direct from NHS Choices.
A range of workshops and highly focused discussion groups will explore the latest technology innovations such as 'geotagging' and 'mash-up maps'; plus usability and accessibility issues including how to make PDF files accessible and how to improve your online forms.
The event will also draw upon Socitm's annual Better Connected review of all UK council websites. This year's report showed mixed results, including for example that while levels of website accessibility for disabled users had increased, local democracy information was often lacking.
