Events news published: Thursday 11th October 2007

The terms of compliance for public sector bodies with the new European laws on disposal of electronic waste are on the agenda at Techno-footprint 07: ICT and Sustainability in the Public sector.

This landmark Headstar conference is to be held on 29 November 2007 at Church House Conference Centre, Westminster. On hand to inform the debate will be a legal expert from solicitors Pinsent Masons; Tony Stroud of Remploy e-cycle, leaders in electronic waste disposal; and Craig Anderson of the Furniture Re-Use Network, one of the negotiators involved in UK implementation of the European 'WEEE' electronic waste directive.

The conference will cover all aspects of ICT and environmental sustainability including Mobile and flexible working/videoconferencing to reduce carbon footprints; ICT aspects of carbon management plans; the green PC; the green datacentre; and the challenges of culture change among staff and management to increase sustainable practices.

The event will also see the launch of a new report: ICT and Sustainability in the Public Sector - Hero or Villain? by Chris Head, Principle Association, Socitm Insight Programme, local government Society of IT Management (Socitm). Socitm is a partner in this event, and the new report will form a key contribution to work in this field.
