Studies Of Successful Shared Services To Be Unveiled At Headstar Conference

Research news published: Tuesday 26th June 2007

Delegates are set to gain valuable new insights into successful shared services partnerships at ‘Building the Perfect Council Website’, an event jointly organised by Headstar.

Socitm will unveil the research findings at the event, which takes place on 12 July 2007 at Olympia 2 in London. Jointly organised by Socitm and E-Government Bulletin, the conference will include a discussion of new research carried out by the Socitm Insight team into local government portals.

According to Martin Greenwood, Socitm Insight Programme Manager, portals focused on geographical regions and particular service areas were examined. Both types require local authorities to form effective and sustainable partnerships, said Greenwood. "Some work and some don't. We look at what makes them work, and this will offer valuable pointers to shared services in general," he said.

The conference draws on the collected wisdom of eight years of Socitm's annual 'Better Connected' review of all UK council websites. It is aimed at IT directors, council webmasters, communications officers and everyone involved in creating council web content or building or managing council websites, including private sector partners.
