MEP to Deliver Keynote Speech at e-Access '07

Richard Howitt MEP is to make the opening keynote presentation at this year's major conference on access to technologies by people with a disability, e-Access'07.

The annual conference, aimed at the public and private sectors, looks at access to technologies by people with disabilities in all areas of life, including work, entertainment and employment.

Richard Howitt MEP, who is chair of the All Party Disability Intergroup and Labour Member of the European Parliament for the East of England, first elected in 1994, is to cover policy issues relating to accessibility, providing examples from across Europe.

Howitt is also Vice Chair of the Human Rights Sub Committee, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy and is the Labour European Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and European Parliament Spokesperson on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Other speakers at the event include Paul Timmers, Head of ICT at the European Commission's Inclusion Unit, Geoff Adams-Spink, BBC Disability Correspondent; and Fiona Martin of Martin Searle Solicitors. As well as plenary speaker sessions, there will be a series of breakout workshops for delegates to choose from on topics including broadcasting; public procurement policy; games; and mobile phones.
