With the continuation of tough economic times for the public sector, it is vital to ensure that your council's website works well as an efficient and effective provider of information and services to local citizens.

Building Perfect Council Websites '12, our seventh annual event, is a partnership between Headstar and Socitm. The UK's largest event in this field, it brings together more than 300 participants, including local authority webmasters and web teams from all parts of the UK. We also welcome private sector partners; health service, government and other public sector web teams; communications specialists; and others with an interest in the development of efficient, citizen-centred public services online.

This high profile event combines a headline conference with a unique interactive format of round-table discussion groups and pre-arranged one-to-one meetings for structured networking. The event focuses on both current best practice and predicts future trends to keep you ahead of the game, from open data to mobile services.

Overall, our programme covers all aspects of creating a successful site, from high-level strategic issues such as ensuring a focus on the citizen to detailed hands-on advice such as search engine tips; and web form usability.

To maximise the sharing of best practice, all participants at this year's event will be able to create their own bespoke networking programme that integrates their chosen conference sessions, with discussion groups and pre-arranged meetings with other participants.
