The European Disability Forum (EDF) kicked off a campaign this week to further their drive to combat discrimination in all aspects of the lives of people with disabilities. The campaign aims to collect over 1 million signatures from European residents.
If the signature campaign is successful, it will represent a call from European residents to which the European Union may be obliged to respond. According to the draft European Union Constitutional Treaty, a call from 1 million citizens must be responded to.
The EDF campaign runs from 23rd January to 3rd October. On 4th October, the petition will be handed to the European Union and the European Parliament. The handover is timed to coincide with a gathering of people with disabilities, their friends and associates.
Sign the petition and help the UK meet the 160,000 signatures it needs to meet national targets for contributing to the 1 million.

I wonder what effect on European Parliamentarians this will have? One wonders if any suffer from “petition fatigue” at all and this might wash over them?
Does anyone know what, if anything, will make this one stand out from the crowd?
